Established 1980

GL Perry Construction was founded with a vision to bring quality craftsmanship to the homes and businesses of San Jose. Our small team started with residential projects, laying the groundwork for a reputation built on trust and quality.

First Large High End Residential Project,  1996

Up until 1996, GL Perry Construction was taking on small projects and subcontracting for other general contractors. In 1996 we landed our first large high end project in Atherton where we were the general contractor.

Expanding Horizons,  2020

In 2020 Justin took over ownership of GL Perry Construction from the founder Jerry Perry. Justin implements new techniques and technology to aid in the ever evolving construction industry, while retaining the core company values that have proven successful for so many decades.

Award Recognition, 2010

Our commitment to excellence was recognized nationally when we received the 'Builder of the Year' award for our innovative designs and sustainable building practices.

Embracing Technology, 2015

We adopted cutting-edge construction technologies and project management tools in 2015, enhancing our workflow and improving project delivery through precision and efficiency.

Community First, 2020

In 2020, we launched our 'Build for the Community' initiative, focusing on projects that give back to the community, including affordable housing developments and renovations of local landmarks.

Justin Reichert
President

Justin has been in the construction industry for all of his life.

Growing up with a father that ran a local general contracting company, Justin would often find himself at construction sites after school or on summer break.

Starting with sweeping up the jobsites and eventually working his way up to a lead carpenter, Justin has experienced all aspects of the construction industry.

He has been with GL Perry since 2012 and took ownership in 2020

Matt Bravman
Estimator - Sales

Matt started as a carpenter with GL Perry in 2017 and has recently stepped into the role of estimator. He works directly with clients and subcontractors to develop a scope of work to suit the clients needs.

Jim Showalter
Job Superintendent

Since joining in the late 1980s, Jim has become the primary liaison for clients at GL Perry Construction. He oversees final decision-making, coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers, and manages field employees, leveraging his extensive experience in carpentry and major remodels.

Paul Jones
Project Manager

Paul has been with GL Perry since 1998. He began his career as a carpenter and has transitioned into a project manager. He works directly with clients to coordinate and exectute projects.

Scyler Condie
Project Manager

Scyler has been with GL Perry since 2023. He's a our newest project manager who joined our team after working for over ten years in operations for Tesla. He works directly with clients to coordinate and exectute projects.

Dennis Reichert
Project Manager

Dennis is Justin's father and has over 50 years of construction experience. When he is not managing projects, he loves to draft blueprints for projects. He has a keen eye for design and critically analyzes the layout of homes to efficiently transform the space.

Do we tackle projects big and small?

Every project is significant, regardless of size. We're fully equipped to manage various projects, offering personalized solutions that best fit your requirements. Our expertise in carpentry and electrical work allows us to handle smaller projects in-house, while we collaborate with trusted subcontractors and partners for larger endeavors.

How much do additions cost per square foot?

Addition costs are influenced by what’s being added and the choice of finishes. Expect higher costs for bathrooms or kitchens due to the complexity of the work involved. Starting roughly at $450 per square foot in the Silicon Valley area, the costs can rise based on the project's specifics and quality of finishes desired.

How much is it to remodel a kitchen?

Kitchen remodels can range significantly based on finishes and fixtures, with costs starting around $60,000 and can go well over $100,000 for high-end designs. Custom cabinets, countertops, appliances, and lighting all play a role in the final quote, which we tailor to each client's unique wishlist.

How about bathrooms?

A full bathroom overhaul begins at around $50,000, with primary bathrooms often starting around $70,000. We work with you to find the best solutions that align with your expectations and budget, given the wide range of quality in fixtures and finishes.

What is the length of time for your projects?

We value consistency and swift progress. A small bathroom may take 4-6 weeks, while a large bathroom can take up to 7 weeks. Small kitchen remodels are around 8 weeks, larger kitchens up to 12 weeks. Room additions take about 3 months, major remodels 8-12 months, and new custom homes can range from 12-20 months, provided design and materials are finalized beforehand.

Can we pay subcontractors or suppliers directly, or do some of the work ourselves?

When we bid a job and put together an estimate, it's generally based on our purchasing and controlling all aspects of the project. Plans, permits, special inspections, and temporary utilities are encouraged for the owners to pay directly. We can discuss arrangements for direct payments for supplies and subcontractor work depending on the scope and timing of your project.

What are your payment arrangements?

We do not ask for money upfront but expect payments to be made in a timely manner post-invoice to maintain project flow and ensure our employees, subcontractors, and suppliers are paid on time. The payment schedule may vary, with more frequent invoicing near major project milestones.
